Company
Ever since Digital Endoscopy was founded in 2006 by Marc Henzler, it has dedicated itself to the development of new ideas and products for rigid Endoscopy.
To achieve our targets, we combine the latest optical illumination and image processing technologies, with the expertise of innovative surgeons to enhance "chip-on-the-tip" Endoscopy. Based near Tuttlingen, where high mechanical quality and autoclaveable performance has been traditional for years, we have created a "digital endoscope" which is ground-breaking in the field of rigid Endoscopy.

Management
Prior to founding Digital Endoscopy, our CEO Marc Henzler has been working in the medical industry for over a decade. Stations of his career were well known camera manufacturers for the medical industry such as Kappa optoelectronics as well as “in the field” work at the Kantonsspital Frauenfeld in Switzerland or for Vitalmex in Mexico. After leaving the medical industry for some time to do consultancy on financial reorganisations of companies, Mr. Henzler joined Gimmi GmbH, Germany, in a senior position.
Fritz Pauker, our CTO and CEO of Fritz Pauker Ingenieure GmbH, our R&D partner, had learned his trade in the still completely new discipline of image processing at the Denis Gabor Institute of the Company for Radiation and Environmental Research in Munich. His enterprise model was to use image processing in the areas of medical engineering and industry automation. As early as 1986 his company moved to Friedberg and expanded, driven by highly innovative projects. A GmbH was established in 1989 and in the year 2000 the first machining device was purchased for in-house production. Two years later, the spin-off of the 3D sensor technology company 3D Image Processing GmbH, which meanwhile was sold to the American enterprise 3-ality, was successful. The move into the new company building at the business park Friedberger See took place in February 2007.
Technology
Our core fields of interest are:
- Imaging systems based on CMOS digital cameras (Active pixel sensor) with small sensors (1/5” – 1/11”)
- Highly efficient LED illumination with or without glass fiber coupling integrated in a heat sensitive surrounding
- High speed image processing by FPGAs with embedded microprocessors for outstanding live stream video image enhancing possibilities
- Mechanical engineering for outstanding autoclaving performance
To offer this verity of different cutting edge technologies we operate with a network of highly specialized manufacturers and R&D companies, all of them based in Germany and Switzerland.
